PICCOLO
(Model No. 42)

I bought this model as a Christmas pressie to me from my family (come on, we all do it . . . . don't we?) just so that I'd be able to continue flying during the winter months. I had no previous interest in helis at all, but this one changed my mind about them. For a start it was much harder to fly than I'd imagined, but once I'd learned to hover, I just couldn't stop flying it. I got so addicted to the little heli that it quickly became my most-flown model - despite being the newest. This is obviously because I can pick up the Tx anytime of the day or night and don't have to go outdoors to fly, let alone all the way to the strip

Of course my initial enthusiasm has passed now and I fly only when I decide to fly (instead of being drawn to my "flying room" by some invisible force seemingly dragging me by the nose). The model is now "much modified," in fact not much of the heli remains original (just the frame and canopy I think!). Both motors and both servos have been replaced several times, as has the PiccoBoard itself. It has had several replacement hubs, rotors, swash-plates and main gears and it now sports an alloy swash and hub, alloy flybar arms, push-rods and swash/fly-bar connecting rods. It also has Mk2 paddles, Mk2 u/c, home-made music-wire fly-bar, home-made boom, home-made main rotor shaft, home-made direct-drive tail motor, brushless main motor and "low-voltage" warning lights for the lithium battery . Great "indoor" fun

Best "mod" to date: Changing tail motor to a:  Direct Drive system
