WILDCARD
(Model No 51)

This model ought to have been an excellent flier right out of the box . . . . but I had nothing but trouble with it at first. I tried several different plugs, three different engines, two tanks and sets of plumbing, but the engine still continued to die soon after take-off - and sometimes even before the model left the ground. Very frustrating!

October 14 2005 and I finally cured the engine problems!

It turns-out that the aluminium engine mount which is supplied with this kit was transmitting engine vibrations to the airframe and aerating the fuel - despite having the tank wrapped in foam rubber and using an anti-foaming agent in my fuel!

Simply replacing the supplied mount for a Flair composite item transformed the engine's reliability and performance. At last I was able to fully enjoy the aerobatic capabilities this model first promised - after a whole Summer of grief!

Why did the alloy engine mount cause me so much trouble? Well, before 'binning -it' I discovered that there was a tiny crack in one of the 'arms,' and although I couldn't detect any movement or vibration, there must have been some I suppose
